This is a select example of Close Combat close-up. On the back it is marked with the name of the clasp designer, E. E. Peekhaus, as well as the "FLL" logo of the manufacturer Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid. This close combat FLL is made of zinc and has a beautiful bronze Brennlack finish that remains approximately 95% intact on both the front and back. It is not easy to find a bronze Close Combat clasp that maintains such an original finish. The clasp is in very good condition overall, showing some age, but with hardly any signs of wear. The back has the crimped hinge and latch configuration which is textbook for this manufacturer. The back plate is still in place with the original crimps and has never been securely reattached. A very interesting example of a desirable FLL Close Combat Pin.
